Meg Burns
Owner/Operator
Meg has lived in Crested Butte since 2007 and began her pet sitting career in 2010. Meg grew up in rural Western New York where her love of animals started from a very young age in a home where there were always large breed dogs (primarily Boxers and Labs). She also raised sheep and pigs and helped her father raise chickens and pheasants. Meg spent her childhood exploring nature in the woods surrounding her home and has always found great joy in observing wildlife. Meg graduated in 2008 from WSCU in Gunnison, CO with a BA in Business Administration. Meg enjoys the active outdoor lifestyle Crested Butte provides mostly with, but sometimes without, her furry friends; well as a little down time at home with her long-time boyfriend and their kitty, Itty Bitty.

Dylan Spatcher / Manager

Picture
Dylan was raised in the foothills of Morrison Colorado as an only child. That being said, her dogs always meant so much to her because they were her closest companions, almost like siblings.  She has always valued her relationships with animals.  She obtained a degree in Resort Management from Colorado Mountain College in Steamboat Springs. Living in the mountains gave her a greater sense of appreciation and reverence for nature, which inspired her to earn a bachelor's degree in Environment and Sustainability at Western Colorado University. Since graduating in 2019 Dylan has served with AmeriCorps on the Mountain Roots farm just east of Gunnison, walked dogs for a small business in Maryland while she caught up with relatives who live there, and then she moved back to Gunnison to work with the Forest Service for a season. Although Dylan wears many hats, she has developed a strong work ethic rooted in compassion, responsibility, diligence and trust. She looks forward to serving the community in a positive way by caring for your pets and helping the Pet au Pairs office flourish.

Julia Berezowskyj

My name is Julia Berezowskyj but the pups call me Auntie Jules. I've had dogs on and off my whole life and am a proud mother of a black lab mix named shadow. My love for animals extends outside of just dogs as I've been fortunate enough to own cats and live around animals throughout my life. My promise to you is that I will treat your furry friend with the same love and care the way I would treat my own.

Crystal Kotowsk-Edmunds

Picture
Crystal moved to Crested Butte from Denver in 2012 to work for the town's watershed coalition, and has been in and out of the valley since, having  left a few times for school in Denver and the Peace Corps abroad. But Crested Butte is home! Growing up in a family of nine, Crystal has been a nanny on the side since she was in junior high, and upon moving to dog-friendly Colorado, she extended her caretaking to pets. Crystal graduated from the University of Denver in 2018 with a dual masters in international development and environmental policy and management. She loves the environmental ethic and tight knit community in Crested Butte and all of the outdoor adventures-- and particularly adventuring with dogs!

Jenny DeFrates

Picture
Jenny first visited Crested Butte in February 1990 and realized how special it is here. Born in Santa Cruz, CA- she moved to Mammoth to be a ski bum in 1985.
She married a ski instructor and had a son in 2001. Moving to Crested Butte became the goal. They built a house here in CB in 2003 and had a daughter too.
Jenny has always had a dog or two. In one of the first photos of her as a child she is reaching out for her family poodle.
Jenny's love for animals has continued as a pet-sitter for a large portion of her adult life. Living in this beautiful place, getting lots of time with her kids, snow walks with her dogs, Ozzy and Skater
and caring for your pets makes her one happy mountain mom.

Ellen Patten

Picture
After her first mountain bike race in Crested Butte when she was 12 years old, Ellen knew she wanted to move to this beautiful Valley. She finally made it happen in 2015 when she was accepted into, and would graduate from, the new Environmental Management program at WSCU. Ellen has been surrounded by dogs, cats, pet rats, horses, gerbils, guinea pigs, you name it, for her whole life. She loves all animals and finds beauty and elegance in every one of them. Her family includes a rescue from St Croix, USVI, a pit bull/chow mix named Dezie. She is responsible, loving, and active, and will make sure your furry loved ones get the care they need!
